Newstalgia Motors Presents Car No.
1997 Plymouth Prowler
- The Prowler is Plymouth's tribute to a truly original American art form: the Street Rod.
- Rare… Only 324 Prowlers were distributed to U.S. dealers in 1997.
- Original one owner car, same as new… Still has the sprue nubs (a.k.a. tits) on the tires and plastic covering the carpet which was not removed by the dealer.
- Has to be one of the lowest mileage '97 Prowlers on the market… ONLY 1971 actual miles.
- Never driven in the rain and always stored in a climate controlled facility.
Flawless in appearance with no dings, scratches, etc. Body colored grill, composite aerodynamic quad projector beam headlamps. A manual black cloth soft top is fitted with a glass rear window and integrated defroster.
The retro theme is continued into the interior, which features a full complement of gauges at the center of the dashboard, in an elliptical body color matching pod with an Autometer tach mounted atop the steering column. Cruise Control, Defroster for the convertible top's glass rear window, Air Conditioning, Climate Control, Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Mirrors, Leather Steering Wheel with Tilt, Speed and Radio Controls, Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag, Keyless Entry, Security System, Intermittent Wipers, Cup Holders, Remote Trunk Lid Opener, and Tire Pressure Monitor. The seating is Leather-trimmed and the center console has an armrest, cassette storage and cup holder. An Infinity® AM/FM cassette with six-disc CD changer, remote amplifier and seven speakers provide the tunes and news.
Engine and Driveline
The free-revving 60-degree engine design cranks out 253 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 255 pound-feet of torque at 3,950 RPM to get anybody's attention. It has an aluminum block with a forged steel crank bedded in the four main bearings. The heads and pistons are aluminum. Dual throttle body induction. Dressed-up and heated-up slightly, it sports a less restrictive air cleaner, cast stainless steel exhaust manifolds that make tube-type headers look primitive, and EFI linear cam throttle body for quick and crisp response. There are no fluid leaks, drips or other issues.
The rear-mounted transaxle is a four-speed fully adaptive, electronically controlled automatic with AutoStick®. Brakes are vented 4-wheel power disc. Steering is power rack-and-pinion. The suspension consists of independent upper and lower control arms with pushrods in the front, independent multilink, modified double-wishbone with front and rear stabilizer bars, and coil-over shocks on all four corners.
Thanks to a low 2,800lb curb weight and a rear-mounted transmission, this Prowler is surprisingly quick with fantastic handling due to a near perfect front/rear weight distribution.
Wheels and Tires
Cast aluminum wheels (17-inch front, 20-inch rear) ride on Goodyear Extended Mobility (EMT) with run-flat capability and low tire pressure sensor tires - P225/45HR17 (front) and P295/40HR20 (rear).
If you are looking for something that looks like a real hot rod, but boasts all the creature comforts of a modern automobile, and a ton of fun to drive… you've arrived!
