1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop Resto-Mod
The very straight and solid body needed little if any rust or accident repairs prior to the professional full frame-off restoration. All body panels are laser-straight with uniform door, hood and trunk gaps. The bright work, stainless trim, brushed aluminum appliqué, emblems, rubber window and door seals, head lamp gaskets, hood spears, and "California" one-piece bumpers have been re-plated, refurbished or replaced. All soft ray tinted glass is without any blemishes. The show quality custom mixed Tropical Turquoise base coat clear coat finish resulted in a stunning finish throughout.
The luxurious interior features Oxford White and Cream Leather throughout, including the headliner, door and trim panels, and visors. Gray wool cut pile carpet and Custom matching floor mats. A Vintage Air A/C, Heat and Defrost system makes cruising on warm summer days enjoyable. Stock un-cut dash, instrument cluster and gauges. A leather half-wrapped billet steering wheel tops the GM tilt steering column. AM/FM Stereo with concealed speakers and power antenna. Matching upholstered trunk. The electrical system is without worry due to a new wiring harness. Corvette power disc brakes and power steering.
Engine and Driveline
Under that classic '57 Bel Air hood lurks a 1987 5.7L, 350CI Tuned-Port Injection (TPI) Corvette engine backed by a 700R4, 4-Speed Automatic overdrive transmission and a stout Limited Slip positraction rear axle with a 3.07 gear ratio. Custom cross-flow radiator and aluminum fan shroud, Custom firewall, Corvette headers, Corvette serpentine drive belt system, HEI distributor, K&N air filter, AC Delco 8 mm plug wires, High-torque starter. For superior handling, performance and appearance (cool factor) front and rear clips from a 1987 C4 Corvette were professionally installed. This conversion features:
- Steering: Rack and pinion power assisted
- Front Suspension: Single fiberglass composite monoleaf transverse spring with unequal- length aluminum control arms and stabilizer bar
- Rear Suspension: Fully independent five-link system with transverse fiberglass single-leaf springs, aluminum upper/lower trailing links and strut-rod tie-rod assembly
- Brakes: Four-wheel power disc
